Wakefield Theatre Club ran from 1968 to 1981. It was a popular venue during the golden age of variety performances. It was part of a vibrant local variety scene along with the nearby Batley Variety Club.
Variety shows included many performers across different genres. They ranged from music and comedy to ventriloquists and strong women!
Wakefield Theatre Club hosted a long list of eclectic acts. It attracted many famous faces. Star performers included Cilla Black and Bob Monkhouse.
The club seated 1200. It was on Doncaster Road in the Belle Vue area of Wakefield. It offered a full night out, with a range food and drink to enjoy with your evening's entertainment.
