Dragon Egg Week

The Easter Dragon Egg Hunt at Pontefract Castle is back for another year, and better than ever!

Join in with different dragon activities between 28 March and 6 April. Enjoy crafts, interactive storytelling and games. And yes, we're open on the Bank Holidays!

Dragon Egg Hunt (28 March to 6 April):

Help Ilbert the Dragon find all his eggs on a special trail. Explore Pontefract Castle together and complete fun challenges. Collect your free trail sheet from the Visitor Centre, 10am – 3pm each day.

Dragon crafts (28, 30 and 31 March, 3 April):

Enjoy dazzling dragon crafts in our Activity Zone, come rain or shine. Where will your creativity take you? Crafts available 10am to 3pm, 28, 30 and 31 March and 3 April.

Dragon Eggsplorers (1 April)*

Enjoy eggsploring the incredible nature all around us this Easter holidays!

Join Ilbert's friends for a day of dynamic dragon and nifty nature activities.

Dragon Parade Day (2 April)*

It’s time for the annual Dragon Parade at Pontefract Castle!

Enjoy lots of fun crafts and storytelling sessions as you prepare for the big parade at 2pm.

Meet Ilbert the Dragon:

Ilbert will be at Pontefract Castle on:

• Monday 30 March, 12pm to 12:30pm

• Tuesday 31 March, 12pm to 12:30pm

• Thursday 2 April for Dragon Parade Day. Parade at 2pm, potential surprise Ilbert visits in the morning

All the activities, including the trail, are free! No booking required.

There is something different to entertain you every day. It’s going to be eggcellent!

The Keep Café

The Keep Café will be open every day between Saturday 28 March and Sunday 12 April, 10am to 4pm. Refuel with hot and cold drinks and snacks. Vegan and gluten-free options are available. Dogs are also allowed in the Café, and we have some pawsome dog treats available!

Gift Shop

Take home a special souvenir from our fully-stocked, family-friendly Gift Shop. The Gift Shop will be open every day between Saturday 28 March and Sunday 12 April, 10am to 4pm. We've got all sorts of goodies, from pocket money treats to brilliant books.
