Home Education: Medieval swords skills training (10+)

Workshop times:

  • Thursday 11 June , 10am to 12pm

  • Thursday 11 June, 1pm to 3pm

This workshop is for home educated children aged 10+ and their families.

We are very excited to be welcoming back John Steels to Pontefract Castle! He will be our medieval weaponry expert for this hands-on session.

In this workshop, we will:

  • Learn fascinating facts about swords as we discover the role they played in the medieval era

  • Use a training sword to learn medieval manoeuvres practised by historical swordsmen

  • Make training swords from cardboard to take away. These will include all the design components found on medieval swords!

No previous experience is required.

This session is delivered in partnership with the Community and Family Learning Team at Wakefield Council’s Adult Education Service.
