Discover the art of silk painting.
Explore how colour was created long before modern paints existed. Learn how medieval people used plants, minerals and insects to bring colour to their lives. They used the dyes to transform clothing, banners and decoration in castles.
Design and paint your own silk artwork. Experiment with flowing colour, pattern and texture. Be inspired by nature, castle symbols and medieval designs.
This workshop is designed for teenagers aged 12 to 16. Accompanying adults are welcome, but not essential.
This activity is part of our Heritage for Youth programme. Teenagers can get hands-on with history through interactive workshops.
