Week 78 volunteer update

Today Kim and Helen chopped back and weeded. Some of the plants that had been previously chopped back are putting on new growth. However, other parts of the garden are now beginning to show the effects of the recent heatwaves.

Carole and Helen advised a new gardener on plants to grow on his rockery at his new house.

Carole then did the weekly flower count. Afterwards, she went around the Medieval Herb Garden to decide which plants to include in the July talk on Thursday.

This week the liquorice plants went on sale.

Plant of the week: Liquorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra)

To coincide with Pontefract Liquorice Festival this weekend, liquorice is once again our plant of the week. So nice, we had to do it twice!

We've updated last year's liquorice blog with some new facts and tips!
