This is Ilbert. He is a friendly dragon.
Ilbert lives at Pontefract Castle.
Ilbert loves nature! He enjoys going on nature walks with his family or friends.
Ilbert likes to play this I-spy nature challenge on his walks.
You can play this when you next visit Pontefract Castle. Or, find your nearest green space.
This is the Medieval Herb Garden at Pontefract Castle. It's a perfect place to spot nature in action.
Any number of people can play.
You take it in turns. You create a list a list together of all the different things you can see. You repeat the previous person's list, and add a new thing onto the end of it.
Person one might say: ‘I spy a robin on the wall.’
Person two might say: ‘I spy a robin on the wall and a yellow flower in the garden.’
Person three might say: ‘I spy a robin on the wall, a yellow flower in the garden and a grey squirrel.’
Person four might say: ‘I spy a robin on the wall, a yellow flower in the garden, a grey squirrel and a wiggly worm.’
Once everyone in your group has spotted something and said it out loud you take another turn. Each person takes their turn to add more nature things to the I-spy list.
If a person forgets any of the things on the list, or muddles up the order, they must drop out of the game.
The winner is the last person remaining who can remember all the things, in the right order!
How long will your I-spy nature list be?
You can use this activity for your 50 things to do before you're 5.
