The Ackworth Hoard

The Ackworth Hoard is a collection of silver and gold coins, along with a gold ring. They were buried in a ceramic pot for safe keeping.

The hoard dates to the English Civil Wars, specifically around 1645 to 1646. It was found in a back garden in Ackworth in 2011.

Part of the Ackworth Hoard is on display at Pontefract Museum. It is the only hoard that has been found in the Wakefield district.
